Tour Details

Every year between August and October, the endless plains of Serengeti become the stage for one of the world’s most breathtaking natural events, The Great Migration (Witness Migration Magic)

Over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles gather near the Mara River, where survival depends on timing, courage, and luck. Predators wait. Crocodiles lurk. And when it happens it’s unforgettable. August to September marks their dramatic crossing into Kenya’s Maasai Mara, while October sees their bold return back into the Serengeti.

This 7- day adventure is designed to give you the best possible chance to witness the Mara River crossing in Northern Serengeti. You’ll experience the drama from the ground in a private 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof and guaranteed window seat, and from the sky during an optional sunrise hot air balloon safari.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy immersive game drives, scenic flights, and finish with a magical descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, home of the Big Five.

Check-in freshen up and spend the rest of the day in your hotel. Optional city tour or local cultural visit if time allows. an oasis of serenity amidst one of Africa’s most vibrant cosmopolitan capital cities. Day 2ARUSHA – FLY TO NORTH SERENGETI | SERENGETI OVERNIGHT

Head out after early breakfast for the transfer to Arusha Airport to catch-up your local flight to the Endless-plain of Serengeti. The word “Serengeti” is derived from the Maasai language, meaning “endless plain.” A welcome table will be set-up either at the airstrip, or a short distance away, with tea and coffee, cold drinks and snacks, allowing you to refresh while your guide briefs you on the surrounding area. After hot/cold drinks and snacks, experience your first taste of the wild and the endless plain. Enjoy a game drive en-route to your lodge. Dinner & Overnight Serengeti (with lunch, dinner & breakfast)

       Highlights:

  • Serengeti – host the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.
  • Entering the Big cat area of Tanzania
  • More than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds

In September, you benefit from school holidays being over and thus a few less vehicles around. Also, when compared to July, we would argue that September is a better time to almost guarantee seeing the migration in the north. This is because the wildebeest can be late, so July is a slightly trickier time to predict, whereas if you go in September though, you are pretty much guaranteed to see the herds as they absolutely will have arrived in the north by this time and always linger well into September. Contrary to popular belief, once the herds arrive in the north, they do not simply head straight for the Masai Mara then head south, but they linger criss-crossing over back and forth through the Mara River – it is not a single mass movement, but more a chaotic gathering which can mean river crossings happen daily from July all the way through until late October.

Day 3 & 4 FULL DAY IN THE ENDLESS PLAIN OF THE SERENGETI

Spend the entire two days in the field, Relax in the endless plain of Northern Serengeti with game drives – unequalled for its beauty and home to the Great Wildebeest Migration river crossing. The Northern Serengeti offers a chance to escape the crowds: this region of the park – wedged between the Central Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve to the north – is remote and relatively inaccessible, which means it sees fewer visitors. Travelers who make it to this corner of the Serengeti will be rewarded with gorgeous landscapes of green rolling hills, granite outcrops and acacia woodlands dotting open savanna, incredible wildlife, and most importantly, with massive herds of wildebeest and zebra making dangerous crossing of the croc-infested Mara River during the Great Migration. This sector of the park is also home to the greatest concentration of elephant in the Serengeti, as well as good numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena and diverse resident animals such as giraffe, topi, eland and hippo.

Highlights:

  • The Serengeti – host to the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.
  • Entering the Big cat area of Tanzania
  • More than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds
  • Experience a night game drive

Day 5 SUNRISE BALLON SAFARI | OVERNIGHT SERENGETI

Before dawn, you’ll be transferred to the balloon launch site. Float silently above the Serengeti as the first light kisses the plains and wildlife stirs below.

Balloon Safari Experience: Pickup time 5:00am (Approximate) an early morning Balloon excursion, the adventure begins just before dawn. Guests assemble at the launch site for a briefing as the flames from the hot air balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. As the dawn breaks the hot air balloon fills and then rises.

Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-colored canopy, you’re off for a wildlife viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. What amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness: the silence as you float in the end-less plain of the Serengeti. The flight lasts around an hour, drifting wherever the air currents take you. There are ample opportunities for photography and video filming. Then your Hot Air Balloon Safari finishes with a flourish. In the time-honored tradition of balloon flights, the world over, you toast your return to earth with a champagne breakfast, cooked wherever you land and before returning to the camp for overnight in the afternoon, head back to the Mara River region (evening game drive) for one more chance to catch a crossing

Day 6GAME DRIVE EN-ROUTE | TRANSFER TO NGORONGORO (NCA) OVERNIGHT

Start your last day in the Serengeti with an unforgettable sunrise game drive across the Serengeti. See the sun set fire to the savannah as predators such as Cheetah, leopards and lions hunt for their morning meal.

And Since the Bush never sleeps. Something, somewhere, is always at work or at play, hunting or being hunted, browsing, mating or simply going about its business. However, the early morning is a particularly good time for our inquisitive Safari to bring you close to the wildlife, just when the action is at its most exciting. Few predators hunt in the heat, so the cool of a new morning is when we are most likely to witness the thrill of the chase, great opportunity to spot nocturnal animals as they return from their busy night schedule, and who knows you probably have a chance to spot lean cheetahs and shy leopards, foraging hyenas, and last but not least, the king himself; ‘the lion’.

You will return to your accommodation for late breakfast, afterwards begin your scenic Drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Our drive takes us back through the Serengeti via a different route, offering plenty of opportunities to spot the animals that eluded you on last day in the endless plain. As far as the eye can see, you’ll spot thousands upon thousands of animals in herds; wildebeests and zebras migrating together, tall and graceful giraffes, jumping antelopes and gazelles, the powerful African elephant and the most respected group of animals: the predators, Traditional Maasai homesteads. By late afternoon, arrive at your lodge perched right on the crater rim.

Overnight at Ngorongoro conservation area, accommodation offering dramatic views into the crater below. Rest well and get ready for tomorrow’s unforgettable crater tour.

Day 7EARLY MORNING CRATER TOUR | RETURN TO ARUSHA GRAND FINALE

Wake up to your final morning on safari with a short, sweet farewell to Ngorongoro Crater a place so rich in wildlife and beauty, it’s known as “Africa’s Eden.” If you didn’t get enough magic yesterday, this morning offers one last glimpse into the crater’s raw wilderness. With the rising sun casting golden light.

Over the caldera, enjoy a peaceful tour along the crater rim or a quick final descent, depending on timing and your flight schedule.

Ngorongoro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to rare black rhinos, powerful lions, massive elephants, and vibrant birdlife all nestled within steep 600-meter-high walls and over 260 square kilometers of untouched nature.

After soaking in the final sights and a light breakfast or packed snack/lunch, begin your journey back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport. You’ll arrive in time for your outbound flight or evening plans.

This marks the gentle close of your 7-day journey from dramatic Mara River crossings to crater floor silence a story of movement, beauty, and wild connection that will stay with you long after you’ve left.

You will then catch your connecting flight and bid farewell to your guide for your onward journey. Please speak to us to arrange your trip to the island of Zanzibar.
