Head out after an early breakfast for the drive to the Serengeti National Park. The word “Serengeti” is derived from the Maasai language, meaning “endless plain.” En-route to the Serengeti (visit Olduvai Gorge, known as the Cradle of Humanity; the Museum is a testament to the long journey that humanity has made from its humble roots in East Africa to its current state as the dominant species on earth.) Highlights:
Relax with 2-full day in the endless plain of Serengeti with game drives – unequalled for its beauty and home to the Great Wildebeest Migration. The huge herds of plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope dominate the park while the attendant predators such as lion and cheetah are to be found amongst the many kopjes scattered across the plain. Its landscape varies from open grass plains in the south, savanna with scattered acacia trees in the centre, hilly, wooded grassland in the north, to extensive woodland and black clay plains to the west.
Start your last day in the Serengeti with an unforgettable sunrise game drive across the Serengeti. See sun set fire to the savannah as predators such as Cheetah, leopards and lions hunt for their morning meal.
And Since Bush never sleeps. Something, somewhere, is always at work or at play, hunting or being hunted, browsing, mating or simply going about its business. However, the early morning is a particularly good time for our inquisitive Safari to bring you close to the wildlife, just when the action is at its most exciting. Few predators hunt in the heat, so the cool of a new morning is when we are most likely to witness the thrill of the chase, great opportunity to spot nocturnal animals as they return from their busy night schedule, and who knows you probably have a chance to spot lean cheetahs and shy leopards, foraging hyenas, and last but not least, the king himself; ‘the lion’.
You will then return to your accommodation for breakfast, after breakfast, pack your bags and depart with your Safari driver to Ngorongoro Crater. There are numbers of lion which are typically larger in size than an average lion due the large amount of game in the area. The crater floor tends to get very busy, with there often being numerous vehicles at any wildlife sighting.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a large, unbroken, un-flooded caldera, formed when a giant volcano erupted and collapsed some three million years ago. Had it not become a caldera, it is possible that the volcanic mountain would be about the same height as Kilimanjaro.
The caldera is 600m deep, 16km across and 265 sq km in area. Enjoy the spectacular scenery and game viewing, in what has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. Many of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino can be seen grazing on the open grassland of the crater floor, surrounded by some of the 25,000 large animals that occupy the crater, including lion, cheetah, wildebeest, eland, zebra and gazelle. Flamingo, among other bird species, can often be seen feeding at Makat Soda Lake as well. Afternoon drive to your hotel for your overnight stay. Overnight Karatu/Ngorongoro crater (with lunch, dinner & breakfast)
Highlights:
Day start with a drive to Lake Eyasi, a mildly alkaline lake about 55km long. If seeing hundreds of species of birds excites you, Lake Eyasi is a perfect destination for you to see flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, weavers, spurfowls, storks, barbets, egrets and more. The visit includes meeting the Hadzabe & Datoga people and spend the day observing their ways. The Hadzabe is an indigenous tribe known as the hunter gatherer Bushmen. Visit their homesteads and learn more about their life-style. Hunting in groups with bows and arrows, this tribe survive with what the environment provides. The Hadzabe bushmen treat diseases with their own medicines. The Hadzabe speak a very unique click language. Apart from this cultural activity the area offers superb hiking, bird watching and beautiful scenery. (with lunch, dinner & breakfast)
