Nairobi – Lolldaiga Hills.

Lolldaiga Hills: fifty thousand acres of unspoiled African wilderness lie behind the door of your tent. The location of our camp is blessed with high concentrations of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. With four of the Big Five (missing rhinos) abundant in the area, you can hop into one of our custom-built, open sided Land Rovers with your private guide and set off in search of lions, leopards and elephants. The camp operates across the beautiful private conservancy of Lolldaiga Hills, meaning they are not bound by the strict rules of tourist hot-spots and, as such, we can walk, drive and even climb our way around, giving you the real, unbounded experience of an African safari.

A true safari cannot be experienced from the back of a safari car – instead, her there prefer to take the keys, hand them over, and let you do the exploring. It’s up to you what you see, where you go and when you do it. See what you want, drive where you want, do what you want. Transfer from Lolldaiga Hills by road to Il Ngwesi. Game package at Il Ngwesi Eco Lodge.

Il Ngwesi is a Maasai community in Laikipia, Kenya. The community set aside 80% of its land as a conservancy and built the first community run lodge in Kenya. The area is now a wildlife paradise including elephants and rare African wild dogs and of species only found in the north like Grevy´s Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe. Also more than 400 species of birds can be found here.

The lodge offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with the Maasai community. In six secluded bandas beautiful made using natural materials you will have a uninterrupted panorama view provided by the open sided design. Two rooms have a star bed.

ACTIVITIES
A highlight of your stay at Il Ngwesi is the bush walk. Walking with the Maasai guides, the stories on the tracks and trails unfold around you as you learn to spot the different calls and habitats of the birds and animals. As you walk, you will hear the ancient tales as told by the Maasai people to explain the world around you. For the more adventurous take a day hike up the Marori Hills for superb views across northern Kenya and a picnic lunch along the way.

A safari game drive in the company of extremely knowledgeable Maasai guides away from the tourist crowds and in some of Kenya´s most spectacular Scenery is a great experience. All the large game animals are here along with some rare species.

Visit the nearby village to learn about the Maasai culture. They can arrange for you a traditional goat supper. See also how the lodge is helping the community to develop by visiting local project, schools, clinics, gardens and beadwork groups. Join a bead workshop.

The lodge can book you also a camel ride safari. Visit places around like Ngarendare Forest and have a swim in the waterfall pool. Meru, Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs are nearby for more game viewing and cultural experiences. Visit a market in the old settler town Nanyiki.
